Fever

I must be a loon.

It was 90+ degrees today and what did I do as soon as I got home?

Ran.

I ran up to the park and loopedy looped it four times, then headed back home. It took a good 30 minutes to run 2.5 miles...but given how hot it was...I guess not too bad.

I drank three bottles of water afterward and could have wrung out my sports bra. Plus, it took a good twenty minutes to cool down. Talk about sweaty and yuky... I know, I know, TMI, but oh well! LOL!!!

Apparently, I have running fever!

Training and Racing

Boy, I feel like I'm going to be doing nothing but training the next couple months…

I have registered myself for the following events:

  • 07/11/09 Rollie Hopgood's Midtown 5k Run & Walk
  • 08/08/09 33rd Street Fair 8K
  • 08/15/09 17th Annual Falcon 5K
  • 10/18/09 Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Half Marathon

I'm pretty excited about getting involved in my running again. I ordered some new running shoes and received them yesterday. :) I think I may order another pair so I can alternate…I'll be logging some hefty mileage and really should have more than the two pair I have now.

Yesterday I went up to this hilly asphalt trail not far from my house. It kicked my ass!!!! Three miles and I was about to keel over at the end. Not only was I not used to running hills, it was close to 90 deg F when I ran. Paul got some roller blades Sunday, so he bladed while I ran. (Side note: Poor, Paul! He hadn't been on blades in about a year, so with the hills and all it was a bit of a struggle.

Poor guy didn't see the sign for a steep incline and wound up going so fast he though he was going to kill himself, so he slid (like in baseball) on the asphalt to stop himself. He has a HUGE strawberry on his leg now…it covers almost the entire side of his thigh… :( ) At least I wasn't alone in my misery! ;P

I'm taking today off to recover. I'll do some intervals on Thursday, a short run on Friday and a long run Saturday.

Looks like from now 'till October I'll be training and racing. :)

Yourself

I'm not sure what to think any longer.

Just when you think you have people figure out...they surprise the hell out of you.  I mean, folks who you think you can count on...seem to disappear when you call on them.  People who you don't think want to be around suddenly want to be more a part of your life.

I just don't get people.  I would love to scream - BE WHO YOU ARE AND BE CONSISTENT!!!!!!

If you want to be a part of my life act like it.  If you don't, freakin' say so...don't play games with me.  I hate game players.  Say one thing and do another.  Don't have time or patience for that shit.

And if you say you don't...then stop yo-yoing in and out and expect me to be okay with it.  Of course I'm going to have issues and be confused.

I'm just annoyed with people.

Just goes to show there really is only one person you can count on...and that's yourself.

Obviously a lot more going on here, but I just don't feel comfortable going into details...  Ever since Paul read my blog, I feel over exposed.  And, duh, I know this is the internet, but...  It's hard to explain...

Any who...  Me, myself and I...  And that's how we roll these days...

Whirlwind Weekend

Flew down to GA to see my girlfriend, Laura, on a Buddy Pass for the weekend.  I was invited down for a Birthday Carnival for her kids.  Fun!!!! :)  Original plans were to fly out Friday at 1pm-ish and fly back Sunday at 1pm-ish…  Unfortunately, we had to watch seat availability, so that plan was blown out of the window.

Friday she calls me and we have to bump my flight out to 4:30, so I didn't get there until 7:30ish…  Her and her hubby, Jason, meet me at the airport.  Jason and I go out for some drinks, food and Stanley Cup watching, while her and the kids wait for her mom to get in from FL.  Unfortunately, Wings lose and her mom's flight is late.  So Jason and I finish up drinks, wipe our tears away since the Wings sucked it up and run an errand for the party the next day.  Laura and I wrapped up some goodie bags for the kiddies, chatted and headed to sleep around midnight.

Saturday I get up and chat with Laura's mom for a while, then showered.  We all head over to the in-laws, where the party was to be held, around 9am.  Once there, we all work to get things set up - Bouncy Tent, Face Painting Tent, Game Tent, Craft Tent, Food area, etc…  Folks began to arrive around 1:30ish…party lasted until 5ish.  We finally got back to her place around 8ish and the kids opened up their pressies.  :)  Around 11pm we check flight availability for my Sunday flight back and see that the flight I'm on is over booked and tons of folks are on standby, sooooo…we change my flight out to 7:30 a.m.  ACK!  LOL!  Off to bed we go…

Sunday get up at 5:30ish and head to the airport…  Boo!  I wish I could have stayed longer it was great seeing her and getting to know her hubbie and hang with the kids.  I get home around 10 a.m. after picking up my car from having front brake pads changed, play with doggies a bit, decide to run errands - Costco, Walmart, Sprint store (needed a new phone!), unpack all the treasures, unpack from the weekend, do some laundry, tidy up the house, have some lunch, relax a bit, go for a 4.5 mile run, water grass, cook dinner…collapse.

It was a great weekend.  I really needed to get away.  I wish I could have stayed longer, but there is always next time! :)

Bizzy!

I sure have a busy week ahead of me...

Tomorrow I'm going to a volunteer orientation session for First Step. It's a program that helps battered women and children. I need to get some volunteer hours under my belt. My daughter will be graduating next year and I won't have to pay child support any longer...so I'll be able to afford to go back to school to get my Masters in Counseling!!!! Hence, the volunteering. I'm soooo geeked about it!!! :)

I need to get some miles in for my half marathon training. Been doing pretty good. I ran a good four today...gotta keep things going.

I have to get my house in order - going to see my girlfriend this coming weekend! WooHoo!!!!

With work, running and getting ready for the weekend...I'm gonna be bizzy!

Distracted

So I've been trying to keep myself distracted.

I don't want to pick up the phone...

I don't want to call...

I don't want to text...

I don't want to get sucked in...

I don't want to fall...

...but then again I do!

It's all about keeping myself distracted.

Busy, Busy!

Been keeping pretty busy these days....

Last Friday I stayed in.

Saturday I got up and ran a 5K - Detroit Race for the Cure - with my friend Cyndi. Puttered around the house a bit and then went out with some friends to watch the Wings beat the Penguins...then went dancing - wow, so much fun!!!...didn't get home and in bed till almost 2:30 a.m. ;P

Sunday got up late...ran my daughter around. Paul invited me over, but I had to pick up my daughter, so I got a rain check...and then decided to watch the end of the Wings game with some friends...ending up staying out way too late and drinking too much...had to get a ride home. Not sure how that happened, too much fun and not paying attention. But I was responsible enough to not drive.

Monday night was a movie at Paul's. It was nice getting together with him. We made some hot wings and watched a movie...

Tuesday evening was spent out shopping with my daughter.

Tonight...been on the phone with a few different friends.

Tomorrow I think I'm going to go roller blading and then out to watch the Wings game...plans aren't firmed up yet...but I'm very excited about getting out. :) :) :)

This coming up weekend I have a work party on Saturday night.

I have to get some mileage in this week/weekend...can't let the running slip by me!!!! Must prepare for the Detroit Free Press Half Marathon!!!!!!

Planning a trip to Atlanta, GA to spend the weekend of the 13th with my girlfriend and her family. :) Can't wait.

Next Monday I have a volunteer orientation. I figure that I need to get back into the groove and get myself geared up to go back to school for my counseling degree. Next year my daughter will graduate, I won't have to pay child support, so I'll be able to afford to go back to school!!! Yippee!!!! :)

I did have a little pity party for myself earlier today. I'm a bit lonely... I don't like being alone...but...

I am trying to keep myself busy. I'd say I'm doing a fairly good job of it! :)

Actually it's the Radial Nerve

Went to the specialist today...it's actually my Radial Nerve which has damage to it...

Nerves heal at the rate of 1mm per week or about an inch a month. 25.4mm = 1 inch.

I have about 7 inches of nerve which require healing.

Healing time 7 months, plus 1 month...equates to 8 months of healing.

I've had a week and a half of healing so far...ugh!

I guess dealing with 8 months of healing is better than having no feeling in my hand at all.

Time heals all wounds, right?!?!?!
